Affirmation of God: I look to God with my eyes and my heart for direction.

Today’s Scripture: My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways. Proverbs 23:26 ESV

God’s ways are the ways to lasting delight. Proverbs 23 shares many of the dead end ways the world directs us. If we give our hearts and eyes to the ways of the world, we find temporary pleasures that rob us of lasting joy.

I have followed almost all of the wrong paths we are warned about; selfish ambition, envy, desire for wealth, drunkenness and gluttony, and sexual impurity. Where do those ways end up? Well, you know don’t you?

When our eyes and hearts are looking to God we find lasting joy instead of fleeting pleasures. God still directs us each day if we look to Him. The Israelites looked to the cloud by day and the fire by night. Are we looking for His signs as we step forward?

Are we turning our hearts and eyes to Him right now to follow His ways? It is there we find delight and eternal joy.

Today’s Prayer: Father God thank You for Your ways. My eyes and my heart are looking to You for direction. I know true joy and delight that lasts is found in You. Thank You for carrying me this far and for showing Your ways that give joys the world can not. I am looking to You LORD, show me Your ways. Amen

Affirmation of God: I cry out all the more!

Today’s Scripture: The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” Matthew 20:31 ESV

I am amazed at the power and love of the Holy Spirit. He has the power to open up the heavens to us and within moments be right in the middle of our earthly plight.

I am sometimes haunted by Jesus’ question in Mark 10, Luke 18 and Matthew 20. “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind men in this story kept crying out “all the more” for Jesus to have mercy on them. When He did call for them they knew they wanted sight. I have often wondered how I would respond if Jesus asked me this question.

Just maybe He is. I am crying out all the more that the Holy Spirit who opens the heavens also reveals God’s will He has entrusted in me. I have faith He will answer and direct me to what He desires for me to want.

Are you crying out?

Today’s Prayer: Christ Jesus I am calling out to You. I want to live in the faith and love that is in You! I am crying out to You again for You to bring me those that will fill me with the knowledge and instruction to fulfill God’s will and guard what has been entrusted to me. May I be a slave to all and give and teach others the word You have given me. Amen

Affirmation of God: I give from God’s Prosperity.

Today’s Scripture: that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever! Psalm 30:12 ESV

The Word of God is truly living. Today is an example for me. For months, if not years, I have been compelled to share God’s message of the prosperity of our souls. I desire to encourage all of us to live from the prosperity of our souls.

In just one day I have changed my tune. It is not so much “living” from the prosperity of our souls but “giving” from the prosperity of our souls. “Living” feels a little more egocentric to me where “giving’ is sharing what we have.

We all have something to share that will benefit others.  In this 30th chapter of Psalms David states he will give thanks to God forever. Forever we can sing praises to Him and forever we can GIVE from the prosperity God has given us.

Will you give who you are today in praise of our helper, the LORD our God?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, I praise Your Name and thank You for being my helper. I pray now to give the help You have given me to others. I will give You my thanks forever. You have helped and given me so much that out of this prosperity I pray to give. I will sing Your praises and not be silent, forever. Amen

Affirmation of God: I live from God’s prosperity.

Today’s Scripture: As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.” Psalm 30:6 ESV

At times it seems I can feel David’s heart in the Psalms. Just maybe this is because we share the same joy. As David, I have come to know that God’s joy follows darkness. I have lived it and continue to trust God to be the source of joy, peace, and love.

Joy, peace and love are treasures of God’s prosperity. As Psalm 30 states, we always have hope in God’s joy coming in the morning. I have come to know and trust that God is the source of a prosperity this world cannot offer.

The LORD does answer our cries for help. We can count on His love for us more than we can count on the rising of the sun and moon. I shall never be moved from this prosperity.

May we praise God for being our helper and tell others of the prosperity we have come to know.

Today’s Prayer: Father God I praise Your name and thank You for being my helper. Thank You for Your prosperity. LORD I pray to live from Your prosperity forever. Lift my praises so others may too know Your love, Your peace and Your joy. I shall never be moved from Your joy and Your prosperity. I praise You and thank You LORD for Your mercy and love. Amen

Affirmation of God: I am trusting in God’s beauty.

Today’s Scripture: He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV

Can you trust that EVERYTHING will be made beautiful in its time? Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us that there is a time for everything and that everything will be made beautiful in its time.

I love the fact that this verse also includes that we canNOT fathom what God has done or is doing with what we face. Peace comes with trusting not understanding. No buts only trust. We cannot see it and may even get lost in the anger, hurt and bewilderment of the moment. However, even in the slice of life I have experienced I have seen God’s beauty in some very unexpected and unimaginable places.

I am trusting You God and know You will make even where I am now beautiful. I will stay busy in Your business and live from the perspective of the eternity You have placed in my heart.

It is time to trust God for His beauty, will we?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, I am thankful for the time You have given me. LORD I trust You to make all things beautiful. I cannot fathom nor see the end but know You do. I am trusting You LORD. LORD I am busy with Your business and trusting in You and will rejoice in the work You have given me, I know you will make it beautiful in its time. Amen

Affirmation of God: The LORD is my redeemer.

Today’s Scripture: Our Redeemer—the LORD of hosts is his name—is the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 47:4 ESV

This is our song of joy- the LORD is our redeemer. Many times when we have exhausted all other powers, ours included, we come to know the true redeemer. The LORD of hosts is His name.

God’s purpose is fulfilled in our redemption stories. Everyone who has been redeemed has a song to sing to the world. These are not my words of encouragement but those of the LORD, my redeemer in Isaiah 47 and 48.

We have all been tried by the furnace of affliction. As we listen and come to know the LORD in our afflictions we find His purpose and we find the way of prosperity. We go with the prosperity of the Spirit as God teaches us and leads us. We take with us the peace we have in God’s commands.

I shout with joy and proclaim that the LORD is my redeemer; do you?

Today’s Prayer: O LORD, God of Israel, You are my redeemer. Thank You for redeeming me in my afflictions. Thank You for being with me in the silence. Thank You for Your written commands that guide me. Teach me and lead me to share the joy and comfort I have found in Your redemption. Carry my song of Your redemption to the ends of the earth so You may be glorified. Amen

Affirmation of God: I am receiving the treasures of darkness.

Today’s Scripture: I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden wealth of secret places, So that you may know that it is I, The LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name. Isaiah 45:3 NASB

Almost five years ago when I began Affirmations of God I stated “Treasure seeker of affirmations and promises from the word of God” on my about page. I did not know then the depth of those treasures. I can trust now I cannot perceive the future treasures either.

This blog journey began out of my darkness of alcoholism. I thank God for bringing me to my knees. Here on my knees in the darkness I have found more treasures than I can contain. I have found the hidden wealth in secret places. Places I did not know existed. Because of this I know there is an abundance of hidden wealth in secret places yet unknown to me or you.

My greatest desire is to teach how God has revealed His treasures in the darkness to me so I may share the wealth of God.

Are you receiving the treasures of darkness?

Today’s Prayer: Our Father who art in heaven, thank You for giving me Your treasures in the darkness. You are faithful still today to fill my soul with Your hidden wealth. Thank You for leading me to these secret places. Teach me LORD, use me LORD to teach the treasure hunting You have spoken into me so others too will teach out of their treasures. Amen

Affirmation of God: When I give what I have others are healed.

Today’s Scripture: Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Acts 3:6 NIV

What you and I have in Christ is what is needed by someone. Oddly, most times we are too busy seeking what we do not have and those seeking do not even know what to ask for.

The lame man had settled into thinking money was what he needed. At three in the afternoon Peter and John were going to pray at the temple out of what they did have. I am sure they could have chosen to spend this time seeking to gain silver and gold they did not. At this intersection of life, Peter gave what he did have and the lame man was healed.

If we give what we do have in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth the broken will find healing.

Right now we possess what is needed to heal others; will we give what we have in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth?

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father I come to You in prayer to thank You for what I do have. Please forgive me for spending more time seeking what I don’t have rather than giving what I do. LORD, I have You and the grace You have given me. What I have found in Jesus, I give. I pray Your healing is multiplied in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

Affirmation of God: My hope is in the LORD.

Today’s Scripture: I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; Psalm 130:5 ESV

My soul waits on the LORD and in His Word I hope. From the depths of my soul I cry out and wait. As I stop my mind from racing away I still my soul to wait for the LORD.

My soul is on high alert like the watchmen David references in verse six; my soul is waiting and looking for the LORD. Keeping watch to the point of exhaustion, I wait, look and listen for the LORD.

I do find hope and energy in the Word of God as I wait. My soul praises God for His steadfast love, redemption and mercy as I wait and search His Word. I rely on Jesus’ perfect patience as I wait and hope; He is my praise and my hope.

I call on the name of the LORD from the depths and have hope that He hears me. Where does your hope lie?

Today’s prayer: LORD of Heaven I wait for You. I do find hope in Your Word. In Your Word I know You hear me and I hear You. LORD I am waiting expectantly for Your light and for Your direction. Filled with the hope I find in Your Word I know You will answer my cries. I cry out to know and do Your will. Amen

Affirmation of God: I am on my way.

Today’s Scripture: And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am on my way to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there, Acts 20:22 ISV

Compelled and bound by the Spirit Paul knew he was on his way. He did not know what would happen when he got there.

I can relate to Paul. I feel compelled and even bound by the Spirit but quite frankly have not gone very far. I haven’t gone because I could not see what would happen or how I could even get there or really exactly where I was going. Can you relate?

In my Celebrate Recovery meeting this week the speaker shared a quote that also hit me: “I cannot do God’s job and He will not do mine”. The Spirit of God compelled me to this Affirmation of God job over four years ago and I am still bound to it.

The Spirit compels me to go and take this message further. I do not know what will happen to me there but I am on my way.

Are you on your way?

Today’s Prayer: Father God thank You for Your Holy Spirit that compels us and bounds us in Your glory. LORD, I confess that I know I am bound to give the message You have given me. I do not know what will happen when I get there or even where “there” is. I am trusting in Your Spirit and I am on my way. Please continue to guide me and lead me to where You desire. Amen
