Affirmation of God: I am searching Christ for all the hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge in Him.

Today’s Scripture: Colossians 2:3 GWT: God has hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge in Christ.

On January 9th, 2008, I heard these words: “Tom, every affirmation you will ever need is found in My Word.”

I had little way of knowing where the Affirmations of God blog would take me as it began on April 7th, 2010. I did not even understand the scope of the words I wrote on my about page: “Treasure seeker of affirmations and promises from the word of God.” Today, July 2nd, 2015 I am encouraged to better understand the meaning of Colossians 2:3; that all the hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge of God are hidden in Christ.

I MUST keep searching Christ. I am called, driven, broken down to search for these hidden treasures. I MUST do this out of my love of God and my love for you. Colossians 2:2 tells us we are to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. Together, we will come to understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself.

Are you searching Christ?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for giving us Jesus and Your Word so we may search for all of Your hidden treasures. Thank You for your treasures of love, joy, hope and peace. You LORD have given us all of Your riches. Help us to search them out. In Your treasures we come to know true prosperity and love. Amen

Affirmation of God: I MUST continue to follow Jesus.

Today’s Scripture: Colossians 2:6 NLT:  And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him.

Have you ever had just a taste of something and knew you just had to have more? What I have tasted and experienced in Christ Jesus I know I MUST have more and I MUST continue to follow Him!

The mighty power of God is revealed to us in His Word. I have just experienced His might and His mysteries again. This Affirmation of God journey renews me day after day. Seeking the treasures of the wisdom and knowledge of Christ is SOOOO RICH!!

We can NOT mess this up if we will just follow Him. Trust me; I have tried to mess this up. The words of God for the children of God are AMAZING! Colossians 2 and 3 have worked me over this morning.

Something has died in me this morning AND something beautiful has been re- born. Jesus builds us up, just as His Words promise. Will you continue to follow Jesus?

Today’s Prayer: Almighty Father I love You and I am so thankful for Your love for me. Thank You for sending Jesus to us and for providing us with Your Word. I am thankful that Your love encourages each of us to continue to follow Jesus. Please forgive me Lord for when I have followed the evil lurking within me. I am choosing to continue to follow Jesus and to bring You glory. In the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord, Amen

Affirmation of God: I live carefully.

Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 5:15 NLT Tyndale: SO BE CAREFUL HOW YOU LIVE, not as fools but as those who are wise.

This Tyndale translation does capitalize these first six words of Ephesians 5:15. This must be important, huh? Have you ever been awakened to realize you haven’t been careful? I have.

Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do, Paul tells us. Acting thoughtlessly is costly.

In verse 19 we are instructed to make music to the Lord in our hearts. Are we? More importantly can others hear and see this music? How about those closest to us? Paul covers marriage, children, and work over the following verses. We are to be careful and full of His love.  We are told to love as Christ loves.

In 6:10 Paul says: “A final word: Be strong with the Lord’s mighty power.” We must be careful to love and live with God’s music and His power.  We will make beautiful music, if we are careful.

Are you living carefully?

Today’s Prayer: Thank You for Your love and Your power. Please forgive me when I do not live carefully and entertain evil. Teach me Lord to love as You do. Thank You for the example of Jesus who teaches me to love and live. Please continue to teach me to make music to You so others may hear. Help me to be careful to nourish and cherish those I love. Amen

Affirmation of God: I live a life filled with love.

Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 5:2 NLT:  Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

We have a choice of what we will fill our life with today, don’t we?

We can fill ourselves with greed, anxiety, anger, sex, joy, peace, love and so many other things. Paul is instructing us in Ephesians 5 to choose to imitate God. God came to earth in the flesh in the form of Jesus to give us an example.

There are some things we have no place filling our cups with. They may seem harmless. We may actually enjoy them immensely, yet when filled with those things we are taking up space for things more beneficial; like love.

The best and first thing to pour into our cups every day is thankfulness to God. As early as we awake we should begin thanking God. God is love and when we thank Him we begin filling our lives with love and removing other temptations.

Will you fill your life with love today?

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being there for all of us. LORD, I am thankful for Your love for me. Thank You for sending Your son to show us how to love. I am thankful for who You are and for Your scriptures provided to guide our ways. Forgive me LORD for filling my life with too many other things. Right now LORD, I am filling my life with Your love. Please fill me up LORD. Amen

Affirmation of God: I now have light from the Lord.

Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 5:8 NLT:  For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!

Now that I have the light from the Lord, will I live there? Darkness is absence of light. We sometimes choose to live in darkness, don’t we?

Paul says do NOT fall for this. Do NOT be fooled by those excusing darkness. We must be obedient to keep the blinds of our hearts open to allow the light of the Lord to shine in. This light that shines in us produces only what is good and right and true.

We must carefully determine what pleases the Lord.  We must take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret Paul says. I am ashamed at my ungodliness at times.

I am asking the Lord to shine His light into my darkness, are you? Let your light shine Lord and expose any darkness in me.

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, please shine Your light into me. Please expose all darkness in me. I am confessing and opening up my heart to Your light Lord and I pray to live there, always. Please replace my shame with the hope and promise of Your light. Amen

Affirmation of God: I imitate God in everything I do.

Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 5:1 NLT:  Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.

Oh, I wish this were true. I pray to imitate God in everything I do. I affirm to imitate God in everything I do.

To imitate God I must watch His every move. If I look to myself or to others I imitate things not of God. I want to live a life filled with love as Jesus showed love. Because Jesus sacrificed Himself for us He produced a pleasing aroma to God.

We can produce this pleasing aroma too, can’t we? Yet, when our minds and hearts imitate anything else, well, it can just stink to high heavens as we say here in the south. Sexual immorality, impurity or greed has no place for God’s people. Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for us. Instead, Paul instructs us here in Ephesians 5 to focus on thankfulness to God.

We are God’s dear children, who will we imitate? Will we focus our thankfulness towards God today?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, I confess I do not always imitate You. I do LORD desire above all other things to imitate You. Help me to turn my mind, heart and soul to thankfulness to You. Help me to sacrifice myself for others and produce a pleasing aroma to You. I love You LORD and pray to offer the love of Jesus to everyone in everything. Amen

Affirmation of God: I praise God for His wonderful kindness.

Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 1:6 NLT: So we praise God for the wonderful kindness he has poured out on us because we belong to his dearly loved Son. Tyndale

While facing persecution and death in a Roman prison Paul wrote about praising God. God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing. Long ago, even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.

He loved us and chose us and shows us His wonderful kindness. Ephesians 1:12 states God’s purpose was that we who trust Christ should praise our glorious God. So in seeking our purpose in this life let’s aim on God’s purpose and praise Him. Now that is a purpose worth living and not one that takes years to figure out.

How simple our creator designed this world that we have complicated. Want to know your purpose? You do, praise your glorious God. In His purpose we find ours. How have you experienced God’s wonderful kindness?

Today’s Prayer: I praise you Father God. You are the glorious God of all creation. Thank You for loving me and adopting me as Your very own. Help me to live Your purpose. Give me my purpose in Yours. Help me to aim on Your purpose full of praise. Amen

Affirmation of God: I have received grace and peace.

Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 1:2 NLT:  May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

Paul knew it, we know it. We have looked in every crook and cranny only to realize God is our source of grace and peace.

Do we live as if we have already received grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ? Ephesians 1 tells us that God wanted to adopt us into His family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. God wants to give us grace and peace.

We can praise God for the grace He has poured out on us who belong to His  dear son Jesus Christ. Because we are united with Christ we know peace. The Spirit of God is our guarantee He will give us the inheritance He promised.

I pray our hearts will be flooded with His light and we will know we have already received His grace and peace. Have you received God’s grace and peace?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank you for loving us. You are generous with your grace and peace and I thank you. Your gift to us is alive and well. I believe in the resurrection of the dead and I believe in You. Thank You for offering  Your grace to save us. You are God and I praise You and Your Way. Amen

Affirmation of God: When I am weak, then I am strong.

Today’s Scripture: 2 Corinthians 12:10 NLT: That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

I will boast only of my weaknesses.  Although these were Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 12:5 they too are mine.

Although I did not suffer these things for Christ, Christ has used His power to turn my weaknesses to strengths. I boast that alcoholism finally took me to my knees. It was there, on my knees, that I came face to face with my weaknesses and the strengths of God.

Confessing our weaknesses keeps us from being proud.  I believe we all have thorns in the flesh. Just as with Paul, the Lord’s grace is all we need and His power works best in our weaknesses. We are humbled by God and we are strengthened in Him.

Can you see how God’s power has shown up in your weaknesses?

Today’s Prayer: Mighty God, You are all powerful and I thank You for giving me Your power through Jesus Christ. I thank you for my weaknesses that I am aware of and for those that will continue to humble me before You. In my weaknesses and in my poverty please show Yourself to be real and all the strength I need. Please use my weaknesses to make others strong. Amen

Affirmation of God: My life is so much more with Jesus.

Today’s Scripture: Romans 5:10 NIV: For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

I wish I could properly describe how much more my life is with Jesus. Just as this verse states, we know we are reconciled to God through the death of Jesus. How much more would our life produce if we focused more on the life of Jesus?

Jesus came not only to die for us but taught us much more about how we are to live. Jesus taught us grace. Not only are we to receive grace but we are to give it as freely as Jesus. Overflowing grace touches many lives. God’s abundant provision of grace creates righteousness in us and others.

Yes, the life and death of Jesus gave us more than words can describe. He gives us an indescribable life in the Spirit. Do you have any words that help describe how much more your life is because of Jesus’ life?

Will you try to live as Jesus lived?

Today’s Prayer:  Dear Father, Your wonderful kindness is so abundant. Your love for me is incomprehensible. Thank You for the death and life of Jesus.  Your Holy Spirit speaks deep within my heart and tells me I am Your child. Thank You for saving me and having Your Spirit live within me. I am thankful Your Spirit reminds us of everything Jesus taught us. Thank You Father for a life that is much more with Jesus. Amen
