Affirmation of God: I am thankful for the grace of Jesus that has overflowed for me.

Today’s Scripture: I Timothy 1:14 ESV: and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

My argument with Paul this morning went something like this: “You can not be the worst of sinners because that is me.” There is a new “chief” in town. Seriously, do you sometimes wonder why and how God loves you?

Those of us who have been forgiven much have an extra dose of thanksgiving. I am mindful of the woman who washed Jesus’ feet with her tears and her hair. I am that kind of thankful. Down on my knees before Jesus knowing I am not worthy of His love and His grace.

Yet, I have it. In the abundance of Jesus’ grace I have been cleansed. Further yet, I have been commanded by God to share this hope I have in Jesus Christ. I can write to you today not out of my righteousness but out of the overflow of Jesus’ grace.

How do you show your thankfulness for the grace of Jesus?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for loving me. I offer You my tears, my hands and my life to wash the feet of Jesus. I am thankful for the abundant grace of Jesus Christ my Lord whose loving grace overflowed for me. Help me to show my gratitude by loving as Jesus did and by completing the work You have commanded me to do. Thank You LORD. Amen

Affirmation of God: God has done so much for me.

Today’s Scripture: Luke 8:39 NIV: “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.

Have you ever felt like Legion? You had many demons that forced you into your own personal wilderness? Here in Luke 8 Jesus removed all of Legion’s demons and used him to spread the good news.

Legion experienced the power of Jesus and wanted to go with Him. However Jesus had other plans for him. He wanted Legion to return home and tell how much God had done for him. Those who knew him best could hear and see what Jesus had done.

We are like Legion. God has done so much for us. We are to go, tell and show how much God has done for us. Our lives, our experiences will tell of what Jesus has done. Others will come to believe and know Jesus because we tell them how much He has done for us.

Can you tell how much God has done for you?

Today’s Prayer: LORD God, thank You for doing so much for me. I will proclaim how much you have done. Use my experiences to show others Your Kingdom and Your power. Remove all of my demons LORD and send me to tell others of how much you have done. Amen

Affirmation of God: I fear the LORD my God, walk in His ways, love Him, serve Him with all of my heart and soul, and keep His commandments.

Today’s Scripture: Deuteronomy 10:12-13 ESV: And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD, which I am commanding you today for your good?

Do you want what has been promised to you? This is a long affirmation but a short list of requirements to take possession of the land God has promised you. Despite our stubbornness and unrighteousness God still keeps His promises and He loves us.

Can we have awe and reverence for God? Can we walk in His ways? Can we love Him? Can we serve Him with all of our hearts and souls? Can we keep His commandments?

We can with God and His Holy Spirit. Simply, our righteousness and perfection are not required but our love for God is.

The LORD prepared our way with Jesus. What do we have to do? Fear Him, walk with Him. Love Him; serve Him with all our hearts and souls and love as He has instructed us.

Will you ask the Holy Spirit to help you do what is required of you?

Today’s Prayer: LORD God, You are the God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God. Thank You for forgiving my unrighteousness and my stubbornness. Help me LORD with Your Spirit to be who You require. I know it is Your might and not mine. You are my God. Amen

Affirmation of God: I will run with endurance the race that has been set before me.

Today’s Scripture: Hebrews 12:1 ESV: Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

Faith is the fuel for the endurance needed to run our race.

In the preceding chapter eleven of Hebrews we are provided many examples of those who lived their faith. Those that had the faith to give to God the offering He desired. Their faith has lived on for us.

Our faith and obedience to our calling will outlive us as well. My faith is in God and His promises and not in what I may achieve. In fact, we are told in Hebrews 11:39 all of these witnesses did not receive the earthly things that were promised but that God had given them something even better!

If we keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith we will run our race with endurance. God will give us something even better than we can imagine and we will leave behind a witness for future generations.

Is your faith in accomplishments or in God?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your witnesses. LORD please perfect my faith to go and offer You what You desire. LORD keep my eyes looking towards Your calling. Grant me the endurance and the faith to complete the race You have for me. I trust Your goodness to use me to help others. Amen

Affirmation of God: LOVE.

Today’s Scripture: Galatians 5:14 ESV For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

One word sums up everything. Love, is it the one word you can focus on today?

Do you have a major decision to make today? Are you facing death and destruction? Do worries and fears weigh you down? Are you looking for happiness, joy, comfort or peace?

LOVE; can our lives really boil down to one word? If we love the Lord our God with all of our hearts and love our neighbors as ourselves will all other troubles fall away? We will most certainly face trials, hardships and distractions in our fleshly sinful world yet at the end of the day one word remains; LOVE.

The Holy Spirit helps us walk in this love. We do not possess the love Paul speaks of here in the flesh. But through faith and the Spirit we have all it takes; LOVE.

Have you asked the Spirit to reveal God’s love to you?

Today’s Prayer: LORD of love I pray upon Your Spirit to reveal Your love to me. Help me to live in Your Spirit and in Your love. Help me to love You with all of my heart, mind and soul and to love my neighbor as myself. Help me to love. Amen

Affirmation of God: I choose God’s purpose.

Today’s Scripture: Job 42:2: “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.

When we say that we know the LORD can do all things do we believe it? Do we say it and then go our own way? Seeking our purpose?

The LORD had just spoken to Job in the preceding chapters about huge land and sea creatures that he could not comprehend and that we still can not understand thousands of years later.

When will we accept the majesty and mysteries of God? Will we give up on our own understanding and seeking our purpose? Job was blessed for the remainder of His days because he accepted that he was only human while God was LORD.

Like Job we can ask God questions and He makes the answers known. I pray I seek to know His purposes so I can live out my days serving Him. In His purposes we find purpose and blessings!

Do you really believe God can do all things? Do you trust His purposes?

Today’s Prayer: LORD, You are God and You hold all understanding and purpose. Forgive me for seeking my own way. I know You can do all things and Your purposes will be completed. I choose to go Your way and I am asking You to answer my questions as to how to live Your purpose. Thank You for promising to answer. Amen

Affirmation of God: I find my way in the Word.

Today’s Scripture: Psalms 1:6 ESV: for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

Please hang with me on this affirmation as it is not a direct extraction from the Holy Scriptures. Rather, this is a confirmation and conclusion based on living these six short verses of Psalms 1.

I fully intended to write on the affirmation I delight in the law of the LORD in Psalm 1:2. Who delights in law? Who delights in rules? We are stubborn creatures, us humans. In only six verses David takes us on life’s journey.

In the footnote of ESV they say law means “instruction”. That feels better to our rebellious nature doesn’t it?

God has proven to me that He knows the way and if I will meditate on and search His law/instruction day and night I will find it. In His way and in His Word I have found delight and my way.

Do you read the bible or do you delight in His law? In His way have you found yours?

Today’s Prayer: Yahweh, thank You for Your law and for Your Word Jesus Christ who instructs us. Thank You for showing us the way when we seek You.

LORD draw me to You and Your Word. Show me now thine way. I delight in Your law and Your way. Amen

Affirmation of God: The LORD Almighty is with me.

Today’s Scripture: Psalms 46:7 NIV: The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

This Psalm is timeless and for all people of God. When natural and man made disasters and threats are upon us, all mentioned in this chapter, it is the LORD almighty and His host of powers that will protect us.

He is our refuge when we realize the enormity of obstacles we face. Nothing we face can stand against the powers of God. God is very present in our times of trouble as we are told in the first verse of this chapter. Have no doubt that in any of your troubles God is very present.

In 46:10 we are instructed to be still and know He is God. No matter what we face today may we pause, be still and know the LORD almighty is with us.

Do you ever pause to reflect on the powers of God and know that all of them are with you?

Today’s Prayer: Almighty God, thank You for Your mighty powers and legions of angels and armies that protect me. In You I have no fears of earthly adversaries. I pause now to praise You and know that You are my God. Amen

Affirmation of God: I live on every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Today’s Scripture: Matthew 4:4 ESV: But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'”

I have certainly found life in the Word of God but have quite a ways to go to live on every word. The Spirit is helping me and leading me but I am yet to be up to the challenge of evil and myself.

As the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness He is leading us. As Jesus fasted for forty days and nights we are also being prepared. The tempter showed up when Jesus was at his weakest and yet the word of God saved Him when His flesh was reduced.

I pray to be prepared by every word of God. I am yet to be up to the challenge. I still fail when I am at my best. I trust the leading of the Spirit and I will follow Jesus and continue to grow in maturity to past the test. Then I will be living!

Are you equipping yourself with the Word of God?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your Spirit and for Your Word. Forgive me for my weakness and my sins. Help me to grow and live on Your every word. Prepare me against the tempter. Strengthen me with Your Word to past the test. You and Your Word are my life. Amen

Affirmation of God: I desire the Father’s will over my own.

Today’s Scripture: Mark 14:36 ESV: And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

Our will, our flesh, can lead us contrary to God’s will can’t it? As Jesus said to the disciples just two verses later in Mark: 14:38 “The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (ESV) We must stay alert and pray.

Selfishly going and doing what I want only robs me of God’s will and witnessing His miracles. I need God’s help in asking where I should go and what I should do. Too many times I just go and do what I want. If I only would recall that His will is fulfilling, impactful and eternal.

The disciples asked, they went and they found just what Jesus told them they would. We just need to ask, to go and trust we will find what God tells us we will.

Will we ask Jesus where we are to go today? Do we desire His will over our own?

Today’s Prayer: Abba Father, all things are possible for You and I ask You to show me Your will. LORD, where do You want me to go? Help me to hear You clearly and help me to desire Your will over my own. Build up my spirit so that I will allow You to overcome my flesh. I trust I will find what You promise. Amen
