Affirmation of God: I seek after the LORD.

Today’s Scripture: One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.

Do we seek after and pursue God? In those dark moments or our dark prayer closets at times we need to truly seek; to gaze with our hearts for the beauty of the LORD.

At times we do not feel it but we can seek after the LORD. One of the quickest ways to feel it is to gaze upon His beauty. The beautiful things He has done that we know we have no influence at all. Seek to remember who He is and what He has done.

There in the seeking we do find. It doesn’t always come easy yet always there when we seek with all of our hearts, all of our minds and all of our souls. If we ask, the Spirit within us will help us find Him and to dwell with Him as we gaze upon His beauty.

How do you seek after the LORD?

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father I praise Your name. I ask You to help me to gaze upon Your beauty and to seek after You. LORD I am seeking after You. I only want to dwell with You. Please forgive me for when I seek other things over You. Thank You for showing Your beauty in the light of Your Spirit. Amen

Affirmation of God: I am thankful the LORD is patient with me.

Today’s Scripture: The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 NIV

I am slow; therefore I am thankful God is not slow to keep His promises.

We all know the disappointment of breaking our word to God. Thankfully His Word is never broken. I pray each broken promise of ours finds healing, strength, and compassion in God’s resolve. I pray we are being prepared for that hour.

As we look to God and His new heavens and earth may we be prepared and help prepare others for that final day. We are all sinners and can be thankful Christ died for us and may we grow in righteousness.

The last verse in 2 Peter instructs us to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” I am growing LORD and I need You to do Your work in me to help me grow and be cleansed by YOU.

Are you thankful God is patient with you?

Today’s Prayer: LORD, thank You for Your patience and Your grace. LORD, You made me and know me and my heart. My flesh is weak and I confess all of my sins to You. I trust You to grow me in grace and knowledge of Jesus. I trust Your love and pray Your love and Your Spirit cleanse every hidden and known place in me. Amen

Affirmation of God: I draw near to God.

Today’s Scripture: Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8 ESV

Are you feeling distant from God? Have you tried to draw close? Many that say there is no God haven’t really tried to draw near. Draw near and you will come to know Him. We cannot get to know Him from afar but up close and personal.

I am thankful for God’s faithfulness and His forgiveness of my faithlessness. Time and time again we find ourselves at a place of needing God; a place where He is our only hope or only source of wisdom. God is ALWAYS there. When we draw near to Him He draws near to us. Why do we let other things draw us away?

LORD, help me to be pure in my faithfulness to You. LORD, help me to only seek Your will. LORD, make Your passions my passions. LORD, teach me to live in Your Spirit.

What do you find when you draw near to God? Have you?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your faithfulness. Forgive me for my infidelity of You. Thank You for meeting me each and every time I come to You. I am unworthy and so thankful for Your grace. I live for Your love and live in Your Spirit. Help me to purify my heart and only live for Your will. I am drawing near. Amen

Affirmation of God: I choose what God delights in.

Today’s Scripture: will destine you to the sword, and all of you shall bow down to the slaughter, because, when I called, you did not answer; when I spoke, you did not listen, but you did what was evil in my eyes and chose what I did not delight in.” Isaiah 65:12 ESV

Are you chasing after your dreams or the dreams of others? Have you considered chasing after what God delights in? Reading this story in Isaiah and looking at the state of affairs of this world several thousand years later we certainly are distracted.

We are too busy and too distracted by our own thoughts, our own imaginations just as the people of Isaiah’s time. We wake up and chase happiness while stopping and looking to the outstretched hands of God would give us the “gladness of heart” mentioned in Isaiah 65:14.

It has been my experience and my observation of the world that we all know the results of choosing what we delight in. Yet we continue to make the wrong choices. When we choose to pursue God and look to know His desires we know a gladness of heart this world misses out on every day.

What will you choose to delight in today?

Today’s Prayer: Almighty Father, I am looking to Your outstretched hands. Forgive me for wasting my years choosing my own thoughts or the thoughts of others who do not care for me. LORD, turn my gaze and my hopes to what You delight in. Unto You I look and in You I know Your gladness of heart. I choose You this day; please help me to continue to make this choice to know Your delights. Amen

Affirmation of God: The joy of the LORD is my strength!

Today’s Scripture: And Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of choice foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the LORD is your strength!” Nehemiah 8:10 NLT Tyndale

Deep resounding joy, do you have it? Do you want it? Nehemiah teaches us how to build joy and not just walls. I am not saying you have to read from God’s Word from early morning to midday as they did this day but they do provide steps to follow:

  1. Read God’s Word.
  2. Lift up our hands and bow our heads and worship the LORD with our faces to the ground.
  3. Listen to those helping us understand.
  4. Be passionate and overwhelmed by the Word.
  5. Replace our weeping with rejoicing in the LORD.
  6. Learn that the joy of the LORD is our strength.
  7. Celebrate with great joy because we have heard God’s words and understand them.

Just as these people made great efforts to build the walls of the city, we can learn the effort required to know the joy of the LORD.

Will you put in the effort?

Today’s Prayer: LORD, thank You for Your Word. It is life, it is joy to those who hear and understand. Amen! So be Your ways. I thank You for these people, Your people who taught us the posture of prayer and the joy found there. The joy found in You LORD truly is my strength. I praise and worship You. Amen

Affirmation of God: I know in my heart and soul.

Today’s Scripture: And now I am about to go the way of all the earth, and you know in your hearts and souls, all of you, that not one word has failed of all the good things  that the LORD your God promised concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one of them has failed. Joshua 23:14 ESV

I just knew it! Do you hear people exclaim that statement? Beyond logic and beyond any proving evidence, they just knew it.

All of us know, in our hearts and souls, that the LORD is God. As Joshua stated here thousands of years ago, we all know in our hearts and souls. Why do we war with ourselves and others?

We can go about this day knowing the promises of the LORD all come true. We can know it in our hearts and souls. We do not have to understand it, explain it but only know it.

Know the promises of the LORD our God are true; know it in your heart and soul. If we only serve and bow down to Him, we know in our hearts and souls all will be as He designed.

Will you live in the land the LORD your God has given you today?

Today’s Prayer: Father, You are the LORD my God. I know it in my heart and soul and I love You. I know in my heart and soul all of Your promises are true. Help me to live in the land You have given me and to be careful to follow all of Your laws. I know You are the LORD, my God and I will only serve and bow down to You. Amen

Affirmation of God: I comfort others with the comfort God has given me.

Today’s Scripture: who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:4 ESV

Why has the God of all comfort, comforted me in all of my afflictions? So I can give His comfort to others. In ALL of my afflictions God is my comfort and I stand on the hope I can share His comfort.

Like Paul in 2 Corinthians I want to share abundantly in the sufferings and the comfort of Jesus Christ. Why has God comforted me? To give His comfort away; not for me but for others needing comfort. Because of the comfort I have experienced my hope for others is unshakable.

At the end of our strength is where we find God and come to rely on His strength and His Spirit. God will continue to deliver us. You and I MUST comfort and encourage each other in prayer. We can give away our comfort knowing God is faithful.

Have you received comfort you can give to others?

Today’s Prayer: God of all comfort, thank You for the comfort You have given me. Use me to share Your comfort for those in need. I pray for those needing comfort and share my afflictions and my hope with them. You are God and You have given us Your Spirit and Your unshakable hope to give away. Help me and others to stand on our faith. Amen

Affirmation of God: I am still knowing God.

Today’s Scripture: Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10 ESV

Can we still our minds, our bodies and our tongues long enough to know God? In the stillness we come to know Him and His low whisper.

We can hear His low whisper above the booming sounds of this world and our own minds. If we know He is God we can approach His throne with the utmost stillness.

Do we come to Him thinking we can bring something new to the table? Do we have the right words, the right list of things to ask? We have nothing new.

We only have to know that He is God and to be still. In the stillness is where we come to know Him more and more. In the stillness we come to recognize His voice, His direction, His will and His peace. The LORD Almighty is with us; are we with Him?

Will you be still before God today? Selah.

Today’s Prayer: Almighty Father, thank You for revealing Yourself in the stillness. Please forgive me when I care more to bring You my requests than to know You and Your desires. Thank You for Your low whispers that can be heard over the roaring sounds of the flesh and earth. I know You are God and I am still before You. Amen

Affirmation of God: I search for the LORD with all of my heart and all of my soul.

Today’s Scripture: But from there you will seek the LORD your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29 ESV

Have you ever tried to explain something to someone and you can just see it in their eyes and sense it in your soul that they just don’t get what you are saying?

Just this morning, I knew I could not get my mind around seeing God. Yet, I asked Him to teach me to “see” with my heart and soul. I wanted to learn to see God with something I did not understand. God is faithful.

Seeking His Word I came across Deuteronomy 4 again. Do I still not get it? It takes seeking and searching to find God. These verses recount the people of God not being able to see Him in the fire but they could hear His voice.

Our minds cannot grasp this but our spirits, our souls can if we seek with all of it. Have you learned how? Have you asked God to teach you?

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for granting us the ways to see You. Continue to teach me LORD to search for You with all of my heart and all of my soul. Thank You for the glimpses You have given me. I praise Your name and Your light with all of my heart and all of my soul and pray to know Your ways there too. Amen

Affirmation of God: I look for the interests of others.

Today’s Scripture: Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:4 Holman

A greater love is found when we look to the things others are dealing with. We rob ourselves by trying to take care of ourselves. When we take care to look for the interests and needs of others we find purpose.

We spend time looking for our purpose and the reality is that when we look to the needs of others we find purpose. What are the interests of those around you, have you looked?

I am guilty of consuming my prayers. Paul’s compassion for others even though he knew not of his fate from that prison cell teaches us to look to the interests of others with all the time we have left. Do we truly care if others find the grace and peace we have found?

We have not received these things for consumption but rather to give them to others. Can you see someone who needs what you have today?

Today’s Prayers: Father God, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ to give to others what You have given me. Thank You Father for Your love and Your gifts. Open my eyes and my spirit to see and to give to the needs and interests of others. Forgive me for my selfishness. Please draw my eyes to others and help me to see them through Your eyes. Amen
