Affirmation of God: You God are my strength.

Today’s Scripture: You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely. Psalm 59:17 NIV

Twice in this fifty-ninth chapter of Psalms the writer called on God to come meet Him. How awesome to know that the God of Creation, the God of Israel will come to meet us.

Can you say it out loud? The LORD comes to meet me. The LORD comes to my rescue. I wait and watch for God’s strength and His love. Can you see Him coming? What are you facing today?

You LORD are the Almighty and You God are my strength. You are my fortress and my refuge. I find safety and security in knowing You meet me in my times of distress.

Thank You God for showing me Your love and for protecting me from the evil that rises up against me.

You God are my strength.

Today’s Prayer: Almighty God, please come to meet me. LORD God of hosts, God of Israel, You are my God. I am watching for You God. You are my fortress and my strength. In Your steadfast love You meet me. LORD I sing of Your strength and Your love. Amen

Affirmation of God: God fulfills His purpose for me.

Today’s Scripture: I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. Psalm 57:2 ESV

Are you busy trying to fulfill your purpose or are you trusting it is God who fulfills it? Sometimes I feel I am cornered in a cave as David was by wondering what my next move should be. Here in Psalm 57, David tells us to turn our focus and our hearts from our purpose to trusting in God.

In various translations David shares that the affirmations of our hearts should be:

• My heart is steadfast in God.
• My heart is confident in God.
• My heart is fixed on God.
• My heart is committed to God.
• My heart is determined in God.
• My heart sings praises to God.
• My heart is prepared.
• My heart is ready, Oh God. 

If our hearts are in God, the Most High, He will fulfill His purpose for us. Where is your heart?

Today’s Prayer: God Most High, I sing praises to You. I give You all of my heart. Please help me LORD to keep my heart fixed on You. My heart and soul take refuge in You. Draw my heart to You O LORD. Grant me Your confidence that You will fulfill Your purpose for me. Not me LORD but You. Amen

Affirmation of God: This I know, God is for me.

Today’s Scripture: Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call. This I know, that God is for me. Psalm 56:9 ESV 

Isn’t it great to know God is for you? You do know don’t you? How can David, how can we be so confident? We know by living constantly in the light and will of God.

Looking back over these past few chapters of Psalms we see that if we give up our spirit to take refuge in God’s Spirit and His steadfast love we know. If we seek Him and speak with Him constantly; if we put His will before ours we experience His provision and His deliverance.

In Psalm 55:17 David says he prays morning, noon and night. All day he is in communication with God in all the battles he faces. If we do the same we come to know the peace in our soul that it is God who delivers us and is for us. He is for us because we are for Him.

Do you know God is for you?

Today’s Prayer: LORD, I offer my thanksgivings to You. Thank You for living in me and listening to me. Help me to be mindful to live in You all day. You are in all battles I face and I know if I am seeking You and Your will You are for me. I trust in You God and praise You and Your word. Amen

Affirmation of God: I give thanks to Your name, O LORD, for it is good.

Today’s Scripture: With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, O LORD, for it is good. Psalm 54:6 ESV

I praise the LORD for His abundant goodness. As I knelt before Him this morning I came to grips with my lack of goodness.

But praise be to God, I just “happened” to be going to a stretch of Psalms that in five years I had yet to capture in my database of affirmations. Yes, I have a database of affirmations, how crazy is that?! Funny but in His goodness today He had me in Psalm 53:3 the very scripture where He told us he found NO ONE who is good.

His Word can never be fully captured and contained in a database which fills me with great joy to know this search will last forever. His goodness and His love are before us every day, all day, and are renewed with every life experience and every translation. I will continue to seek Him, capture what He says to me and share His goodness.

Do you thank God for His goodness?

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, I praise You and thank You for Your goodness. I know nothing good lives in me but You. I pray to keep You before me and my sinful nature. In You I am good. In You I am all things good. I ask You to keep Yourself before me all the day long. Amen

Affirmation of God: Great is the LORD and I praise Him greatly.

Today’s Scripture: A Song. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah. Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain, Psalm 47:1 ESV

In the preceding Psalms David was relying on his hope in God. In this section he takes us from hoping to knowing.  David tells us that God set him free and he tells us how.

We can learn from David that as we turn from our troubles and praise God we come to know Him. As we come to know Him we come to know His joy and are set free. As we bow our hearts down before Him and give Him our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving our hearts overflow with a pleasing theme.

God is very present and if we are still before Him we know He is God as promised in Psalm 46:10. As we offer Him our praise and thanksgivings we hear Him and see Him. We experience His mercy and our spirits learn from Him.

Hope is realized in praise. Do you praise the LORD greatly?

Today’s Prayer: Almighty God I praise Your name. I lay down my heart before You in a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. I know You are God and I praise You greatly. With all that I have I praise You and thank You. Wash me thoroughly LORD and cleanse me of my sin. Amen

Affirmation of God: I hope in God.

Today’s Scripture: Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. Psalm 43:5 ESV

Sometimes we need reminders of where our hope lies. This was a rough stretch for David. Reading several Psalms of David this morning I have captured this affirmation “I hope in God” at least five times.

Here in 43:5 David shows his fleshly confusion and lack of understanding of why he feels so down. He has to remind himself and us that there are times in our lives where all we have is hope in God.

O God, my God You are all I have and when I am bewildered by life I will cling to hope in You. I will praise You for who You are and what You have done. I remind myself that You are my salvation and my God.

Is your hope in God?

Today’s Prayer: O God, You are my God. You are the Creator God, The God of Israel and in You I hope. When evil surrounds me and my flesh fails I still have hope. Hope in You overcomes all I face. Thank You for being my salvation and my God. Amen

Affirmation of God: The LORD speaks to my soul.

Today’s Scripture: Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers! Say to my soul, “I am your salvation!” Psalm 35:3 ESV 

Not what we say to the LORD but what He says to us. David was dealing with contention here in Psalm 35. His words remind us to trust the LORD with conflicts.

We must also ask the LORD to speak into our souls and be reminded that He is our salvation. This is the very purpose of Affirmations of God. To ask the LORD to speak into our souls and to say the LORD is our salvation in a very real and personal way.

The LORD and His angels will protect us and contend with what we face. He knows what is going on and He is near, very near. When we ask Him to speak we find joy in our souls.

The LORD knows all about what we are contending with and He delights in us. We can praise Him all day long.

Have you asked the LORD to speak into your soul?

Today’s Prayer: LORD, thank You for speaking into my soul. My soul is joyful in You. I trust You LORD with all that contends against me. I know You O LORD are my salvation and that You delight in me. You know everything that I am facing and You are close. Thank You Father for delighting in me, I will praise You all the day long. Amen

Affirmation of God: I taste and see that the LORD is good.

Today’s Scripture: Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Psalm 34:8 ESV

Have you ever tasted the LORD? Can you feel David’s heart in the Psalms? Here in Psalm 34 I too can proclaim as David did in 34:4 that I sought the LORD and He answered me.

My soul boasts in Him. Sometimes our words can not measure the praise we have for the LORD. Our praising is a soul thing. Deep and personal like our own tastes and what we see. When we have experienced the LORD’S deliverance, He moves from a thought process to a soulful praise.

I am learning to fear the LORD and to praise Him continually. When I am there I know it and when I am not I know that too.

When we take refuge in Him and know it is He who lives in us, protects us, and saves us it connects with our soul. As David says in Psalm 34:18, the LORD is near.

Can you taste Him?

Today’s Prayer: LORD, I praise You. My soul praises You. Thank you for answering me when I sought You. Thank You for coming near to the brokenhearted and the crushed in spirit. You and Your angel live with us. LORD thank You for touching my soul so it can taste and see You. Thank you for continually teaching me to fear You in my soul. Amen

Affirmation of God: My hope is in the LORD’S steadfast love.

Today’s Scripture: Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, Psalm 33:18 ESV

The LORD’S steadfast love is everywhere, do you see it? Are you looking for it?  Psalm 33:5 says the earth is full of His love. My hope is in His steadfast love.

We see the results all over the world from when we put our hope in things other than the LORD’S love don’t we? We see how He brings the counsel of nations to nothing and how He frustrates the plans of man as promised in Psalm 33:10. When we make nations our lord and our hope, our rewards are there.

Fighting wars we are told in Psalm 33:17 is a false hope. A hope in our strength is a losing battle. I pray we place our hope in God’s love and turn the eyes and hearts of others there too. It is our only hope.

Can our hope in the LORD’S love change the world? Where do you see the LORD’S love?

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for creating this earth and for creating me. My soul is waiting on You LORD and I ask You to keep my eyes and my hope on Your love. I only fear You LORD and place all my hope in Your love for us. Use me LORD to show others the love You have for us. Amen

Affirmation of God: I trust in the LORD.

Today’s Scripture: For the king trusts in the LORD, and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved. Psalm 21:7 ESV            

Ok, so I am not a king, yet I trust in the LORD. When we come to a crossroad, a place to follow a new path, what do we do? Trust the LORD. The steadfast love of God will keep us on the correct path.

In Psalm 16 we are told that God will make our path known to us. In Psalm 17 we are instructed to hold our feet fast to His path. That is all we can do. Stay close to Him and trust Him.

We can stay close to Him in His word and His Word is perfect. His Word revives our souls and keeps us safe. If we desire His Word over all other things we learn to trust Him with all things. His law is in our hearts and will draw our hearts to the path we are to take.

How does God guide you? Do you trust Him?

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, I stand at this crossroad and trust You to guide me. I cry out to You Father and know that You hear me. Direct my heart Father and keep my feet close to the path You have prepared for me. Strengthen my trust in You and help me when my trust is weak. Amen
