Affirmation of God: I ask my Father in Heaven for this day’s bread.

Today’s Scripture: Give us this day our daily bread, Matthew 6:11 ESV

Have you ever caught yourself praying at God versus praying to Him? I have.

What was all of that about? Was it an exercise in obedience or was it empty phrases? Am I really asking God for His bread for this day with a hunger in my heart and my eyes towards Him?

The bread of my Father in Heaven is what I desire and need above all else. Here in this part of what we call the LORD’s prayer we are instructed by Matthew to ask for this day’s bread. The LORD’s provision of what we all need today.

Father, please give us what You know we need today. Please fill my heart, my mind and my soul with the bread of Your will and Your Kingdom. You LORD are the bread of life.

Have you asked your Father in Heaven to give you this day’s bread?

Today’s Prayer: Father God in Heaven, thank You for allowing me to approach Your throne and to be filled with the bread of Your will. Thank You for Your people who have passed along Your instructions to us. I am asking You now for Your bread that I need today. I trust that You know what I need today better than I. Thank You for giving us Your bread this day. Amen
