Affirmation of God: I have freedom in Christ Jesus.

Today’s Scripture: Yet because of false brothers secretly brought in—who slipped in to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might bring us into slavery—Galatians 2:4 ESV

True freedom that is what I have in Christ Jesus; freedom from the cares of this present evil age and freedom from the opinions of man. Paul was doing his best to explain this freedom to the people of Galatia.

Paul had learned to live in the revelation he received from Jesus Christ alone. He was bold enough to withstand the opinions of man and the current church leaders. Man has always had the tendency to define the rules we are to live by to show our faith. Paul was saying the rules of man are not where freedom lies.

Feel free to live to be the person God created you to be. Lay all other cares before God and trust in His revelation to you. You were not created to be anyone else. You were created to live in Christ. Live in that faith and you will know true freedom.

Will you live in the freedom of Christ?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for the revelation of Christ Jesus. Forgive me for the life I have lived in attempting to please man. I am thankful for the freedom I have found in Christ Jesus and pray for Your boldness to help me live there. I pray to You Father to live out who You set me apart to be before I was born. In the freedom of Christ I pray to bring You glory forever and ever. Amen

Affirmation of God: I hear the word of the LORD.

Today’s Scripture: Say to the forest of the Negeb, Hear the word of the LORD: Thus says the Lord GOD, Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree in you and every dry tree. The blazing flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from south to north shall be scorched by it. Ezekiel 20:47 ESV

How do you hear God? Do you hear a booming voice? For years I waited for that “voice”. I cried out to God in frustration of my lack of hearing and my bewilderment as to why He remained silent.

Then I heard Him. I heard Him in His Word. When I read His scriptures, His Word, I hear Him. Just as Ezekiel was instructed here to share the word that had been given him to these people of Negeb; “Hear the word of the LORD.” We too can share the word of the LORD we have been given.

This verse and the one following say it is God who kindles this fire in us. An unquenchable fire within us to share the word we have heard. To “hear” God we must listen to His word. May we not neglect the going to His Word while waiting on another voice.

Do you go the God’s Word to hear Him?

Today’s Prayer: LORD God, thank You for Your Word and for Your unquenchable fire within us. Thank You for sending Your Word to us. Help us to hear You in Your Word and to share this word with those You intend. I know You are God in how You have dealt with me. Help me to share You. Amen

Affirmation of God: I have found a new heart and a new spirit.

Today’s Scripture: Put all your rebellion behind you, and find yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O people of Israel? Ezekiel 18:31 NLT

To find we must search, right? Most translations of this verse state to “make” yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. It takes action on our part to “make” something, doesn’t it?

I have found that if I only “wait” to hear the voice of God, I can sit in silence for a very long time. However, I have also found that if seek to know who God is in prayer and in His Word I find a magical combination. Well, not really magical but supernatural. We find the voice of God and the life of Jesus.

When we seek to know God and His Way we find our new heart and spirit. We find a message that God Himself has already written within us. Our new heart and new spirit is already inside of us yet to find them we must look to Him.

Where are you looking for your new heart and new spirit?

Today’s Prayer: Our Father, who art in Heaven thank You for providing our true heart and spirit. Help us find our new heart and new spirit in Your statutes and in Your Holy Spirit. In You LORD we are found. Help us to live from this new heart and new spirit and bring You glory. Amen

Affirmation of God: God is my confidence.

Today’s Scripture: Is not your fear of God your confidence and the integrity of your ways your hope? Job 4:6 ESV

Eliphaz was the first friend to speak to Job and was attempting to get Job to change his perspective. My perspective has changed in seeking confidence.

God alone is my confidence. It is not how well I can fear Him. Like Job, I may be in a weak moment, set deep in depression over my life’s circumstances so anything I can offer is insufficient.

What Job knew and what we forget is that it is not the strength of our reverence for God or our acts of integrity that give us hope. It is God Himself. God is my confidence and God is my hope. Regardless of my circumstances or my efforts I know God’s will will be done.

It is God who directs my path it is God who breathes in His will. I am confident in that.

Will we seek confidence in our abilities or in the LORD alone?

Today’s Prayer: LORD, You are my confidence. I confess my hope is in You and not in how well I can fear or act. LORD, fill me with Your will today. I place all of my life and my hope in Your hands. I cry out for Your Wisdom and Your knowledge to flow through me as I have not these things in my own strength. Amen

Affirmation of God: My heart is in the hand of the LORD.

Today’s Scripture: The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases. Proverbs 21:1 NIV

Does the LORD direct and examine your heart? I know He does mine. I prove daily that my only hope in walking in the way of life is through Him. Yes, He weighs my heart and destroys my “self” confidence.

As I walk along life’s trails God shows me the more I keep my eyes and my heart on Him I see His beauty. When I look to others and other ways I find heartbreak. When my heart is left in His hands I then experience His ways.

Here in Proverbs 21 and in my life, He reminds me that the only strength I have is in the LORD. Yes LORD I pour my heart out to You so You can direct it as You will. I know my safety and victory rest in You.

How is God examining and directing your heart? Have you placed your heart in His hands?

Today’s Prayer: Dear LORD Almighty, I give You my heart.  Forgive me for when I give my heart to other things. My heart is in Your hand LORD and I pray You direct it as You will. I confess that I have no power in myself and confess that You are my strength. My victory belongs to You. You have my heart and I ask You to hand it to those You desire. Amen

Affirmation of God: I receive God’s daily bread.

Today’s Scripture: Remove far from me vanity and lies; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the bread of my daily need: Proverbs 30:8(Darby Bible Translation)

I know nothing. This statement spoke loudly to me this morning from Matthew Henry’s commentary of Proverbs 30. How little we know. The humbleness and reliance on God is all we need.

He is God and we are not. We are weak vessels and can in one instance speak for God and in the next moment blaspheme Him in our weaknesses. Like Agur who scripted this chapter, we can grow weary of trying to make sense of it all. It is great news here in verse eight, be content and trust that God, in His majesty, gives us the daily bread we need.

Today, like every day, God knows what is needed. Are we willing to receive His bread today?

LORD, I come before You to receive Your bread and not to bring You what I know. Thank You for Your provision.

Are you receiving what God is feeding you today?

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your daily bread. Thank you for giving what is needed. Help me to act faithfully and intently on Your will and not my own. Forgive me for my weaknesses and my sins. I am thankful for Your grace and Your strength. You Father know my needs and I welcome Your bread today. Open my eyes to whom I am to share my bread. Amen.

Affirmation of God: I do daily what is my purpose.

Today’s Scripture: But He said to them, “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.” Mark 1:38 NKJ

This was my seventh blog almost five years ago and I am still drawn to Mark 1:35-38 as the life I want to live today.

Like Jesus, I go while it is still dark to pray with my Father. I want to then go and do the purpose for which I have come. It has been in this solitude with God that His purpose becomes clearer to me. In this solitude and darkness God continues to shape me and draw me into His purpose.

I love meeting with my Father each morning and have grown to trust His Spirit and His Word for guidance. I must be careful to DO my purpose today. Five years and a life time go by in a hurry and I pray I do not allow another day to slip by without doing my purpose.

When do you pray and what is your purpose?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your Son Jesus Christ and for His example. LORD, I thank You that I too can come and pray as Jesus did. LORD, please grant me the confidence to know the purpose I am to go and do today. LORD, I praise You and ask You to honor our prayers and to guide and direct us. Amen

Affirmation of God: My soul craves God.

Today’s Scripture: The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied. Proverbs 13:4 ESV

What are you craving? Our bodies, our minds and our souls crave. As our mouth’s water what do we do to fulfill that craving? As our minds dream and expose desires how do we fulfill them?  When our flesh craves evil can we repent and redirect to welcome God’s rich blessings?

We have natural cravings that can sustain or destroy us. May we be diligent to give all of our cravings to God. As our mouths water, as we are tempted to fulfill cravings in unhealthy ways, may we turn that craving to God and diligently pursue Him.

LORD here is my craving, please satisfy it richly. My soul craves You.

Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for cravings. LORD, thank You for Your faithfulness and provision. Please help me to be faithful in seeking Your will in all of my cravings. I desire You LORD, my soul craves You. Help me to diligently pursue You. Keep me near. Amen

Affirmation of God: God has placed me here.

Today’s Scripture: but God raised him on the third day and made him to appear, Acts 10:40 ESV

God “made Jesus appear” after raising Him from the dead before those He had chosen to be witnesses. Why has God made us appear where we are? What have we witnessed? God has placed us right where we are. What are we to do?

Those witnesses in Caesarea had been chosen by God and were commanded to preach and testify that Jesus was placed here by God to be the judge of the living and the dead. Why has God chosen us to witness what we have witnessed? Can we also preach and testify the Jesus who has been made to appear to us?

The Holy Spirit was poured out upon those witnesses and has also been poured out on us. They spoke in tongues and praised God. Can we not trust that those we testify to will understand our tongue and can we not praise God highly right here were we are?

Where He as placed us we can praise Him! Where has God placed you?

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for what You have allowed me to witness in Your Son Jesus and in Your Holy Spirit. I have witnessed Your majesty, Your love and Your grace. Lord use me as Your witness where I am today. Help me to testify of who You are. Thank You for placing me here. Amen

Affirmation of God: I live in thanksgiving.

Today’s Scripture: And the chiefs of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers who stood opposite them, to praise and to give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, watch by watch  Nehemiah 12:27 ESV

In Nehemiah 12:8 we are given names of those “in charge of songs of thanksgiving”. In our verse for today in verse 27 David had commanded them to give thanks watch by watch. They lived in thanksgiving.

It was somebody’s job, at all times, to be singing songs of praise and thanksgiving. What are you doing on your watch? In addition to those in charge, in verse 40 we are told there were choirs of those who gave thanks.

Certainly everyone had their own jobs to do but those of us called to sings songs of thanksgiving have a responsibility to sing. In verse 43 we are told they rejoiced with great joy.

I do rejoice with great joy and I have the responsibility to sing. Whatever job you have been given, be in charge. On your watch, do what you have been called to do with thanksgiving. Hopefully you will hear the songs of this great choir to lift you up and encourage you.

Can you hear the choir of thanksgiving?

Today’s Prayer: Our Father, thank You for the responsibilities You have given me. Thank You for giving me a voice to sing Your thanksgivings. LORD help me to be forever mindful of singing thanksgivings for others. I pray LORD, others will be lifted during their watch by the songs of thanksgiving You have given me. I live in thanksgiving and sing Your eternal songs. Amen
