Affirmation of God: I receive instruction.

Today’s Scripture: Then I saw and considered it; I looked and received instruction.  Proverbs 24:32 ESV

Do we spend more time looking for instruction than preparing our spirits to receive it? Umm, how many time does the LORD speak to us yet we are too busy looking to receive?

A few years back I vividly recall crying out to God one morning while on my knees, with hands held high, as to my bewilderment that He remained silent in my life. I had been searching, I had been listening, or though I thought.

It is easy to get lost in our thoughts isn’t it? I have learned that if I turn to God’s Word after prayer that He is faithful to instruct. God does speak if we have prepared our hearts to receive.

God’s instruction is received when we have given up on our faculties. Our minds, our efforts can sound out instruction that our souls are designed to receive.

Are you prepared to receive instruction?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, prepare my heart for instruction. Open my spirit to the teaching of Your Holy Spirit. I seek You and Your truth LORD. Please remove the obstacles of my flesh and my understanding. I trust that I will receive the instruction You desire for me and I pray to do Your will. Help me to look with the Spirit within me. Amen

Affirmation of God: I do as the Spirit leads.

Today’s Scripture: What are you doing, my son? What are you doing, son of my womb? What are you doing, son of my vows? Proverbs 31:2 ESV

What are you doing? What are you doing? WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Three times this is asked in this second verse of Proverbs 31. Do you know the answer?

In our quiet times with God are we asking and listening with our innermost being for the Spirit of God to guide us? What are we doing with what we “hear”?

Who or what is leading you? Proverbs 23:19 advises us to direct our hearts in the way. In John 14:6 Jesus tells us He is the way, the truth and the life. In John 14:26 we are promised that the Holy Spirit will help remind us of everything Jesus told us.

I pray you and I learn to direct our hearts in the way so the way is made clear by the Spirit. Where is your innermost being directed?

Are you doing as the Spirit is leading you?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your Spirit. Teach me to listen LORD and hear You clearly and do what You desire. Holy Spirit please guide me, lead me and strengthen me to go and do. I trust in Your strength and Your power. Urge me to show up where You want me and to do what You will have me do today. Amen

Affirmation of God: My soul craves God.

Today’s Scripture: The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied. Proverbs 13:4 ESV

What are you craving? Our bodies, our minds and our souls crave. As our mouth’s water how do we fulfill that craving? As our minds dream and expose desires how do we fulfill them?  What does your soul crave over all things?

If our souls diligently seek the righteousness of God we are richly filled. May our souls crave the prosperity of God. As our mouths water, as we are tempted to fulfill cravings in unhealthy ways, may we turn that craving to God and diligently pursue Him.

The King James translation of this verse says the soul of the diligent is made fat. That’s it, I want a FAT soul!  I pray to diligently crave what God desires for my soul to crave. LORD here is my soul; fill it with Your cravings. Please satisfy my soul richly. My soul craves You.

What does your soul crave?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for cravings. LORD, thank You for Your faithfulness and provision. Please help me to be diligent in seeking Your will in all of my cravings. I desire You LORD, my soul craves You. Fill me with Your righteousness and Your desires. Keep me near and make my soul fat. Amen

Affirmation of God: God is my God.

Today’s Scripture: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God. Leviticus 25:38 ESV

God has us where He wants us doesn’t he? He has given us instruction for how to live life and how to live with others. Three times here in Leviticus 25 as He instructs these people of how to manage their land He reminds them that He is their God.

As the LORD spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai He speaks to us. He has brought us to our land, where we are today, for His purposes and to be our God.

His Word lays out for us what we are to do, yet what we do is subservient to being His. We find security and our jubilee in trusting in His provision.  I know God’s blessings will provide what I need. He will provide others for me and me for others so we support each other to live in Him.

Does God have you where you are so you will know He is your God?

Today’s Prayer: God of Moses, thank You for being my God. LORD, I trust You have me in the land You have intended for me. I trust in Your provision and Your law. LORD keep me ever mindful that You are my God right where I am. Help me to trust in You over all things and to live for You. Thank You for providing others for me and me for others to live with You. Amen

Affirmation of God: I will find God.

Today’s Scripture: I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile. Jeremiah 29:14 ESV

God is not lost. He and His servants are here. Just as in Jeremiah 29:19, God persistently sends us His word and His servants. Are we looking? Are we really seeking with all our hearts to find Him? Are we paying attention to God’s words?

God knows the plans he has for us. I pray to know what God knows. I pray to recognize His servants and to see Him at work here in this city. I find instruction here in Jeremiah 29 to pray for this city, this place where I am for God. Am I too focused on myself to see God?

We are instructed to pray for where we live. Our peace, our welfare, is affected by the peace and welfare of where we live.

Are you looking for God and praying for His peace where you are?

Today’s Prayer: LORD, I pray for the peace, prosperity and welfare of this city and that we recognize Your servants. Thank You for persistently sending us Your words. Open my eyes LORD to those around me and give me the discernment to recognize the servants You have sent. Teach me LORD how to seek You with all of my heart. Thank You for promising that in my seeking I will find You. Amen

Affirmation of God: I am nourished by doing the will of God.

Today’s Scripture: Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work. John 4:34 ESV

God has proven to me that His Living Water does spring out as He promises. I have seen it; I believe it and I am experiencing it.

Energized and nourished by the Word and Spirit of God I have tasted what Jesus was telling us here with the woman at the well. The Spirit who speaks the truth to me is Jesus. LORD Jesus I have asked for Your living water! LORD I do believe that what You give us springs out for all eternity.

Your Spirit has revealed the inadequacies of this world to quench any thirst or hunger. Your Spirit and truth assure we will never thirst again if we feed on Your will and work to accomplish Your will and many will be added to You.

Have you asked Jesus for His living water? Have you been fed by doing His will and accomplishing His work? Eat.

Today’s Prayer: LORD, please fill me with Your living water and may it spring out just as You promised and as You will. LORD, please feed me what You know I need and fuel me to accomplish Your work. LORD, I turn to You and seek Your Spirit and truth for all that I need.  I believe You and expect to complete Your will in me. Thank You Lord Jesus for Your living water. Amen.

Affirmation of God: I am God’s child now.

Today’s Scripture: Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2 ESV

Right here, right now I am God’s child. How do I stay right here?

Living in God’s love now and loving like God now helps us experience living in Christ. So often I wonder what God is doing in me and wonder what His purpose in me is. Here in 1 John 3:2 I find peace in knowing that what I will be has not yet appeared.

However what is clear here in 1 John 3 is that if I live in Christ and His Spirit I will live and love as He does. I only need His love and to practice His love. As we hope in Jesus we are purified.

God’s seed lives in me. God’s life is in me. God’s love is in me and when I live from God’s love and love with His love I live.

Will you live and love as God’s child now?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for loving me as Your child now. Thank You for Jesus and for teaching us His love. I believe in Jesus and desire to love as He loves. Help me to live in You and give Your love to all others. Please help me to do what pleases you now and always. Amen

Affirmation of God: The Spirit within me cries “Abba! Father!”

Today’s Scripture: And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Galatians 4:6 ESV

It is the Spirit within me that cries out to the Father. This Spirit within me is how I know I am a child of God. In Jesus we witnessed this Spirit and in Jesus we received this Spirit.

All around us we witness the results of man attempting to live by the law. Wars and hatred stem from man trying to enforce his understanding of the law.

Just as Paul advised the people of Galatia, live and love in the Spirit we have been given. Do not choose to live in slavery to the law. Have faith in the Son of God and live in the Spirit.

Listen to the Spirit within you. What is He crying out?

Can we shed the chains of slavery one love at a time? Love the Father, love the Son, and love others in the Spirit that has been given to us. LOVE.

Today’s Prayer: Abba Father, I am Your child and I love You. Thank You for Your Spirit within me. I have faith in Your Son Jesus and pray to live and  love as He witnessed for us. Thank You for Your promises to us. Help us to live in Your promise that we are Your children and help us to love others. Amen

Affirmation of God: Where my hope perishes; God’s begins.

Today’s Scripture: so I say, “My endurance has perished; so has my hope from the LORD.”

The third chapter of Lamentations takes me from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs. I find that if I look to God again and again the whole day long I find His hope.

Sitting in silence with Him; raising my heart and my hands to Him I find compassion and love. My hope is in the love of the LORD. When my soul is seeking God, sometimes in my hopelessness, it is there in the silence while waiting on Him that I come to know true hope.

Lamentations 3:29 states “there may yet be hope”. I test and examine my ways and I return to the LORD. When I return to Him I realize He is near, very near and the source of hope.

Do you need to call on the LORD for help and hope? Call, there may yet be hope.

Today’s Prayer: LORD, I praise You and call on You for help and hope. I know the hopelessness of my hope and I thank You for the hope Your love and compassion provide. I find all of my hope in You LORD. Help me to examine my ways and to return to you again and again the whole day long. Amen

Affirmation of God: I am at home with God.

Today’s Scripture: even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:17 ESV

There is so much comfort knowing that we are at home with God. No matter where we are we are at home with Him. Returning from a wonderful extended vacation the comfort was exhilarating to be back in my prayer space. However, I was reminded and rewarded to know that no matter where I am, I am at home with Him.

Here in John 14 Jesus promises a home in Heaven He has prepared for us and the wonder is we can experience this homecoming wherever we are today. When our hearts are turned to Him we are home.

He removes all fear and provides all the comforts of home. Peace, love and reliance in where the Father is. Where is He? He is with us.

Are you thankful that God lives with you?

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Son Jesus and for Your Spirit of truth that lives with me. I praise and thank You for desiring to live with me. In You I am at home. Amen
