Affirmation of God: God is my confidence.

Today’s Scripture: Is not your fear of God your confidence and the integrity of your ways your hope? Job 4:6 ESV

Eliphaz was the first friend to speak to Job and try to get him to snap out of his feeling sorry for himself during his trials. Eliphaz is attempting to get Job to change his perspective.

This verse reminds me today the God alone is my confidence. It is not my fear of Him. Like Job, I may be in a weak moment, set deep in depression over my life’s circumstances so anything I can offer is insufficient.

What Job knew and what we forget is that it is not the strength of our reverence for God or our acts of integrity that give us hope. It is God Himself. God is my confidence and God is my hope. Regardless of my circumstances or my efforts I know God’s will will be done.

It is God who directs my path it is God who breathes in His will. I am confident in that.

Will we seek confidence in our fear of the LORD today or in the LORD alone?

Today’s Prayer: LORD, You are my confidence. I confess my hope is in You and not in how well I can fear or act. LORD, fill me with Your will today. I place all of my life and my hope in Your hands. I cry out for Your Wisdom and Your knowledge to flow through me as I have not these things in my own strength. Amen

Affirmation of God: My heart communes with God.

Today’s Scripture: I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with my own heart: and my spirit made diligent search. Psalm 77:6 KJV

My God is amazing and real. Seriously folks, God has taken me for a stroll with Him this morning. As I knelt before Him I envisioned what Jesus’ mind must have gone through as He walked along to path to meet with God in the darkness of those mornings.

Then my affirmation journey returned me back to Psalm 77.  David had shared in verse three that when he mused or thought about God (in his mind) his spirit grew faint. Our God is overwhelming to our fleshly minds.

Here in verse 6 the, well, heart of the matter is that we seek to commune with God in our hearts and not our heads. The funny thing is when I sat at my computer to capture this affirmation I found that I had wiped out hundreds of affirmations and hours from my spreadsheet where I keep all of these affirmations. Hopefully I can reconstruct from prior backups…

Yes, in my mind I am faint, yet my heart is drawn to commune with God and there I find peace (and His sense of humor).

Do you meditate with God in your head or your heart? Let your spirit search Him out.

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are a mighty God and You are my God. I praise You and seek You with all of my heart. Although my mind is weary my heart is drawn to You. In You I find rest. Come and commune with my heart dear LORD and speak to my spirit. In You I am never weary. Amen

Affirmation of God: I am thankful to have many advisers.

Today’s Scripture: For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisers make victory sure. Proverbs 11:14 NIV

There can be much indecision in making a decision can’t there?  God provides the perfect people at the perfect time to perfect His plan in us.

Have you looked around lately to realize the advisers currently in your life? It has been my experience that God provides the perfect advisers to guide us along His way. Not perfect people but the perfect people for keeping us on God’s path to victory. There are advisers with experience, expertise, encouragement and enlightenment. There are examples to follow and examples of what not to follow.

I am thankful for those advisers the LORD has provided and expectant of those He will provide. I seek God and the advice I find in others to be victorious in which God has called me.

Do you need to make a decision? Look around and I am sure God has surrounded you with helpers to make your victory sure.

Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the advisers You have provided for me. Please grant me the wisdom to draw out and confirm Your intentions. Fill me with the questions to seek out the right answers. I am choosing Your path and asking for many advisers to assure my victory in You. Amen.

Affirmation of God: The LORD is my strength and my courage.

Today’s Scripture: Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV

What or where is God calling you? Do you need encouragement and confidence? Be confident that the LORD is with you.

An encouraging friend sent me the promise of this scripture to encourage me to follow God’s call. I also read in Proverbs 27:9 today that The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.” NLT What is this counsel? To be reminded that God commands us to be strong and courageous knowing He has gone before us to prepare our way and He will be with us.

I have been given this gift by God and a friend. I am passing this along to you today. You know what you are being called to do, don’t you? Are you terrified or discouraged? Be reminded that the LORD is the one who is commanding you and He is your strength and courage to go and take possession of what He has called you to.

God knows our weakness, just as He knew the Israelites and His direction was for us to remember His words and to go and do as He has commanded. Can you cross the line today and trust in His strength and courage?

Today’s Prayer: Dear LORD, thank You for Your strength and courage that You give to me. Thank You for the sweet encouragement of those You have sent to me. Forgive me for my fears and doubts and continue to remind me through Your Word and Your servants to go where You have called me with strength and courage. Amen

Affirmation of God: I give what I have.

Today’s Scripture: But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” Acts 3:6 ESV

Someone needs what we have to give; right now, not at some future date. We have a tendency to think that some day we will get to a place where we can give. Peter shows us here in Acts 3 to give what we have now.

What do we have? What God has given us through Jesus. We have grace, we have love, and we have all of His riches because He has given them to us. Let’s give them away today.

Peter “directed his gaze” at the lame man. Are we looking for those who need what we have? The lame man fixed his attention on Peter and John “expecting to receive something from them”. What are we expected to give by those in need and by God?

Peter took him by the hand and raised him up. I know we have someone we can take by the hand and raise up to praise God as well. God has sent us and given us what we need to be a blessing to others.

Be on the lookout as someone needs what you have! Does someone come to your mind right now?

Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your gift of Jesus to us. Thank You for Your mercy, grace, love, wisdom, power and strength. You have given us more than these and we have all of Your gifts to give away. LORD, help me to give Your praise and what I have to give. All to Your glory. Amen

Affirmation of God: My heart is in the hand of the LORD.

Today’s Scripture: The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases. Proverbs 21:1 NIV

Does the LORD direct and examine your heart? I know He does mine. I prove daily that my only hope in walking in the way of life is through Him. Yes, He weighs my heart and destroys my “self” confidence.

As I walk along life’s trails He shows me the more I keep my eyes and my heart on Him that this is my only hope to see His beauty. I can not look at the footsteps as they only see the past; I can not look for specific things and find them. Yet, when I can momentarily connect my heart to His then I see those things I long for.

Here in Proverbs 21 and in my life, He reminds me that the only strength I have is in the LORD. Yes LORD I pour my heart out to You so You can direct it as You will. I know my safety, escape and victory rest in You.

How is God examining and directing your heart?

Today’s Prayer: Dear LORD Almighty, in You lies all of my strength. Forgive me for my sins and strengthen me to repent. My heart is in Your hand LORD and I pray You direct it as You will. I confess that I have no power in myself and confess that You are my strength. My victory belongs to You. Amen

Affirmation of God: The LORD is leading me.

Today’s Scripture: As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move quickly, because that will mean the LORD has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army. 2 Samuel 5:24 NIV

Where is God out in front of you today? How will you know? Here in 2 Samuel 5 we see that when the LORD calls us, He will confirm us and lead us.

David was specific in his inquiries to the LORD and the LORD was specific in His responses to David. We too can trust that God will lead us. Not only does He lead us to His purpose for us but he also will lead us into each battle and make our way clear.

If we know in our heart He has called us and He has confirmed it then let’s trust His leadership and move forward knowing He will continue to lead.

Where is the LORD leading you today? How is He instructing you to proceed?

Today’s Prayer: Almighty Father, thank You for calling me.  LORD, I am asking You specifically how to proceed from right here. I trust You to direct me at each crossroad and for You to go before me and assure victory. Prepare me for battle dear LORD and show me clearly Your direction. Amen.
